A Few Steps Too Far In the age of the Internet, ALL drugs are over-the-counter. A friend recently sent an e-mail with a link to a web site that sells prescription drugs. Here's their leadoff pitch: "New offshore pharmacy - Not a single medical question asked, guaranteed or it's free." Valium? No problem. Viagra? How many you want? ANTIBIOTICS? Say the word and a case will appear on your doorstep. "100% Private & NO QUESTIONS." Or you don't pay. Wow. That's some old-fashioned entrepreneurial spirit doing an end-run around laws and regulations. But it's also an end run around common sense. Sure, it represents the ultimate in taking your healthcare decisions into your own hands, but "not a single medical question asked or it's free"? There's an important reason why we always recommend that you talk to your doctor about any type of treatment (natural or synthetic) that you might want to take: It's so he can ask medical questions and review your medical history BEFORE you start taking a new drug or supplement.
