Unconventional Treatments Want to keep your memory intact? I would call this a progress report…but so far there's not much progress. An HSI member named Virginia sent an e-mail with this question: "In July, you wrote about a Dr. Rothstein in Maryland who had his license taken away for 'using unconventional treatments' (in other words he was healing people - and not using drugs). The Dr. was going to talk with the Governor about this 'Gestapo-like' treatment. What is the status of this situation?" Thank you for asking, Virginia. Unfortunately, I don't have much in the way of good news. Despite a series of articles in the Baltimore Sun reporting on the ineptness of the Physician Review Board, little or no progress has been made. The articles reveal that the Board has failed to protect Maryland citizens from doctors who are clearly committing malpractice. But they're also "protecting" us from hard-working, smart doctors (like Dr. Rothstein) who don't follow their dogma. As far as I know, Dr. Rothstein has not yet succeeded in getting a meeting with Governor Ehrlich. I'll keep you posted if there is any progress at all.
