The Big Apple

Do you live in New York State, or do you have a friend or family member who lives in New York? If so, you can do them a favor by sending a simple e-mail.

This week, I received a message from HSI Panelist and medical advisor Marty Milner, N.D., regarding the licensure for naturopathic doctors in New York.

Fourteen states and the District of Columbia currently license naturopathic doctors, and efforts to license NDs are underway in several other states. Licensure establishes educational standards, scope of practice, and professional oversight - all of which ensures that patients receive the highest quality care from general practitioners who specialize in natural therapies.

If you live in New York State, you can go to the web site for the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians and fill in a simple template for an e-mail to send to legislators. The template requires a New York address, so if you don't live in New York, please pass this e-Alert along to someone who does.

You can find the template at this link.
