Boxing Gloves?

If I told you that you might lose nearly 10 pounds in less than two months just by boxing for half an hour each day, would you run out and buy a pair of boxing gloves?

I didn't think so. But when a Philadelphia man boxed, played tennis, and went bowling for a half an hour every day, he lost nine pounds in six weeks. And he did it all without joining a gym or even leaving his house.

What's the catch? Mickey DeLorenzo owns a Wii - the Nintendo game system that utilizes a remote control sensor to place game players right in the middle of the action that occurs onscreen. In other words, this game system isn't for couch spuds. If you don't get up and get moving, nothing happens.

DeLorenzo told NewsTarget that his 30-minute daily gaming shaved off nearly 2 percent of his body fat, and his body mass index dropped from more than 25 to 24, moving him from the "overweight" to "normal" range. His resting pulse rate also dropped by more than 10 points.

Of the three games - boxing, tennis, and bowling - boxing burned the most calories: an estimated 125 calories for every 15 minutes of play.

Of course, a Wii system may cost considerably more than a pair of boxing gloves. But not getting punched in the face and knocked out cold? Priceless.
